The album was a sales failure, prompting Linda's exit from Capitol Records. It peaked at # on Billboard 's Pop Album Chart and #35 on Billboard's Country Album Chart. It is considered to be a front-runner in the country rock music genre.

LINDA RONSTADT We Ran (Elektra, 50 min) 4 stars: TRISHA YEARWOOD Where Your Road Leads (MCA Nashville, 42 min) 2½ stars: For Linda Ronstadt, who has found nearly everything she's released of late exiled to "lite" radio, We Ran is an attempt to revisit the roots-rock landscape she once defined and ruled. Thankfully, she's not only in great form but in great company.

As I had not bought any new (for me new) Linda Ronstadt albums since the eighties, I was grateful to find that there are several "new" ones that I had overlooked as time flew by. For fans like me, this is a treasure of music. While I like all of the songs, I am partial to We Ran and Damage/5(37).

For much of the '90s, it seemed as if Linda Ronstadt was avoiding pop music. She recorded only two pop albums, 's Winter Light and 's Feels Like Home, which seemed like diversions from the Latin and children's records that were occupying her parssepquisubgtenco.vicroamautrontiobarguecherredarthirooms.infoinfo , she returned with We Ran, a full-fledged pop comeback produced by Glyn Johns (George Massenberg, Peter Asher, and Waddy 6/

Linda Ronstadt began as the clear-voiced, country-influenced singer for '60s folk-rockers the Stone Poneys, where she covered tunes by the likes of Mike Nesmith and Tim Buckley. That knack for choosing material served her well in the second half of the '70s, when she became a pop superstar interpreting songs by everyone from Dave Edmunds and Elvis Costello to Chuck Berry and Roy Orbison.
